Operator / Maintenance Technician
Carbon Regeneration Plant
The Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant provides the drinking water for the Cities of Regina and Moose Jaw. The plant is an industry leader and is located approximately 22 km. north-east of Moose Jaw.
We are seeking a highly motivated Operator / Maintenance Technician. This person operates our carbon regeneration plant, performs maintenance duties and also provides relief coverage to other operating positions. This position involves shift work. An ideal candidate will have a diploma in Instrumentation Technology, Water Resources Technology or other relevant field, strong mechanical aptitude and 2 - 3 years of industrial experience.
The Buffalo Pound Water Treatment Plant offers a competitive salary and benefits package under terms of agreement with the Communication, Energy and Paperworkers Union, Local 595.

Specific Skills
- Wear and use Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment
- Transport and mix chemicals, and operate equipment used to unload chemicals
- Read recording instruments to measure output and consumption levels, bacterial content, chlorine and fluoride levels
- Perform maintenance and repairs to plant machinery or equipment
- Patrol plant to check pumps, motors, filters, chlorinators and other plant equipment
- Operate and monitor computerized control systems and related equipment to regulate the treatment and distribution of water
- Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctioning and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
- Monitor and read recording instruments to detect equipment malfunctions and ensure plant systems and equipment are operating within prescribed limits
- Make adjustments to plant equipment and systems
- Maintain chemical feed stocks
- Complete and maintain plant logs and reports
- Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content
- Analyze test results and instrument readings
