The Regina Open Door Society Inc. is seeking a qualified individual to staff the full term position of Settlement Support Workers in Schools Case Worker.
Desired qualifications/ Skills / Education
-Post-secondary education in social science and related work experience;
-Assessment and problem solving and goal planning skills
-Extensive experience in actively supporting newcomers and referring newcomers, refugees and immigrants to needed services.
-Knowledge of current legislation and policies affecting newcomers, refugees and immigrants.
-Thorough knowledge of social services systems and complement resources.
Duties:
-Facilitate school reception, registration and orientation for newcomer students and their families;
-Assess the needs of immigrant families and the barriers to successful integration and provide appropriate referral;
-Provide orientation to newcomer parents in order to increase understanding of Canadian culture , school systems and services available in the school community ;
-Organize and deliver school orientation and information to newcomer students and/or their families;
-Receive program related referrals from schools and input the information into RODS database;
Job Expectations:
-Provide services in a collaborative , client centered , supportive ,culturally-sensitive and linguistically-appropriate manner
-Operate in accordance with policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols of the Regina Open Door Society
Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This position requires a valid class 5 Drivers license, clean drivers abstract, clean criminal record/child abuse registry check. There is a cost shared benefits package available to the employee with successful completion of a six-month probationary period
