Description

Education: Completion of a college program in recreation or physical education or extensive experience in recreational and cultural programming

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of First Nations Culture, Values, and Traditions
- Knowledge of the Children's Service Residential Policy Manual
- Knowledge of proposal/grant writing

Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to establish healthy & respectful relationships with children & youth
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to work with high risk youth
- Superior communication skills
- Computer skills

Other Information:

Main Duties:
- Plan and organize recreational and cultural activities
- Assemble supplies and sports and game equipment
- Demonstrate athletic fitness or sports activities and techniques
- Organize group and individuals in arts, crafts and similar activities and lead groups and individuals in cultural and recreational programs
- Attend to clients with special needs, lifestyle awareness information, therapeutic recreational or athletic activities
- Monitor recreational, sports or fitness activities to ensure safety and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required
- Enforce safety rules and regulations, co-ordination of special events, schedule activities, keep logs, maintain records and prepare reports
- Maintain and repair sports equipment
- Applying for grants, budgeting, adhere to all 4DCFS Inc. policy and  procedure manuals
- attend staff meetings, training and workshops, other duties as requested by immediate supervisor
