The Advocate for Children and Youth is an independent Officer of the Legislature and is non-partisan, objective and independent of the government of the day. The Advocate's office engages in advocacy, investigations, public education and undertakes research on behalf of children and youth in the Province of Saskatchewan. These services are conducted in a timely and fair manner and in accordance with The Advocate for Children and Youth Act, and the Advocate's Guiding Principles - Children and Youth First and the Touchstones of Hope.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Systemic, Policy and Research Advocate works both independently and within a team environment to advocate through non-adversarial means on behalf of children and youth. This position focuses on systemic, social and public policy issues identified through individual and group advocacy, investigation cases, community complaints/referrals or raised by the Advocate for Children and Youth. In addition, the position focuses on policy and practice analysis and research.
