Job Location: Sucker River
Lac La Ronge Indian Band Public Works/Housing Department is now inviting applications for a full-time permanent position as a Water & Sewer Operator Trainee for the Community of Sucker River.
The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:
- Provide relief services to the existing Water and Sewer Operator position;
- Monitor and operate computerized control systems and related equipment in water treatment, water distribution, waste water treatment and waste water collection;
- Monitor and inspect plant equipment and systems to detect equipment malfunctions and to ensure plant systems are operating normally
- Collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content;
- Analyze test results and instrument readings and make adjustments to plant equipment and systems as required;
- Complete and maintain plant logs and reports;
- Maintain routine water sampling protocols;
- Provide appropriate paperwork, reports, documentation, when required;
- Adhere to all safety and health regulations;
- Maintain positive public relations on behalf of the department;
- Perform other work related duties as requested by a supervisor.
The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Must have a minimum Grade 12 diploma, Adult 12 or GED 12;
- Good physical fitness;
- Ability to attain Certification as a Water & Sewer Operator;
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license or better;
- Must be self-directed, motivated and willing to learn new skills;
- Must be willing to take direction from a supervisor;
- Must be willing to work independently on various job sites;
- Access to a reliable vehicle is preferred.
