Description

Purpose: Assist with operations of the SSRL Survey
Lab. Acting as assistant manager for telephone,
web and multi-mode surveys, the Assistant Survey
Research Manager provides support to the day-to-
day operations of the Survey Lab. Nature of Work:
Reporting to the Survey Research Manager and
Specialist, the Assistant Manager is responsible
for supporting the day-to-day project activities
in the Survey Lab, including recruiting and
overseeing staff and their work. Requires well
developed organization and communication skills
and may work long and/or irregular hours.
Accountabilities: Assists in managing and
overseeing day-to-day project activities of the
Survey Lab to meet the survey research needs of
researchers across the University: Supports
management of the workflow, scheduling and
operations of the Survey Lab; Assists in the
recruitment, training, supervision, and coaching
and development of interviewers; Helps to assess
and resolve interviewer issues and
technical/computer problems. Acts as supervisor
for telephone, web and multi-mode survey projects,
overseeing aspects of the CATI system: Programs
and tests all survey programs; Prepares and loads
sample; Prepares survey field test reports;
Monitors daily calling schedules, call volume and
quotas; Monitors data to ensure reliability and
validity; Cleans and archives CATI datasets;
Ensures the CATI system and Survey Lab computers
are up-to-date. Ensures quality control of
projects and processes in the Survey Lab. Conducts
telephone interviews when necessary. Experience:
Min. 12 months relevant experience. Experience
with telephone and web survey design and CATI
surveying technologies or working knowledge and
experience of programming and computing systems.
Skills: Ability to work with CATI software;
excellent communication, organization, problem-
solving, troubleshooting, time-management, and
interpersonal skills.
