The Registrar's Office in Yorkton requires a highly motivated and responsible individual to attend court and chambers sittings to assist the Queen's Bench judge while court is in session and to provide assistance to the public and the legal profession in the court office by issuing legal documents. While court is in session, you may be required to operate the digital recording system and ensure recordings are accurate and complete, empanel a jury, keep a list of witnesses and exhibits for trials, swear-in witnesses, document the result of court and chamber sittings and prepare, sign and seal the required documents.
You will also perform court duties for the Court of Queen's Bench, prepare correspondence and reports, issue documents and deal with general inquiries by providing assistance and advice. You will attend to members of the legal profession, legal secretaries, court runners and the general public attending at the office, inspecting and issuing legal documents ensuring legislative compliance. You will determine and collect the correct fees for filing these documents.
There is extensive use of the Queen's Bench computer database system.
You will have the ability to make decisions based on legislation, regulations, policies and procedures and to process legal and court related documents, these abilities would typically be acquired with related court or legal experience.
