As a member of the maintenance team the Maintenance Worker ensures the highest standard of appearance, safety, security, and longevity of housing authority property. The Maintenance Worker participates in an on-call system, as a responder to after regular business hours maintenance emergency calls.
Key responsibilities:
Building maintenance service and repair
Vacancy preparation
Grounds maintenance
Maintain housing authority equipment and inventory
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
One to three years experience in a maintenance and repair environment OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered;
General knowledge of the basic techniques used in a variety of trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical trades;
Ability to repair minor defects in mechanical and building equipment, refrigeration, mechanical, and grounds work equipment;
Must possess, or be willing to obtain, a firemans certificate;
Must possess, or be willing to obtain, a pesticide applicators license;
Ability to maintain good communication and effective relations with tenants, housing authority staff, contractors, and suppliers;
Recognition of, and respect for, peoples diversity and individual differences;
Ability to maintain confidentiality;
Valid drivers license and a roadworthy vehicle;
Must provide own hand tools.
