Description

The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, Regional Services Division, is seeking a Equipment Operator position for the Findlater Section. As part of a section crew you will operate, service and maintain heavy equipment such as tandem trucks with hydro drum, spinner and snowplow/wing attachments, graders and front-end loaders, performing various highway maintenance functions in the summer and snow/ice removal in the winter months. You will keep records and logs of hours of operation, repairs and amounts of materials applied to highways and in the absence of the supervisor; you may be assigned supervisory responsibilities. You will work under extreme and changing climate conditions and must be willing to travel and work flexible hours. You must be able and willing to work in physically demanding conditions and perform physical labour, heavy lifting and climbing. As a member of a team who ensures public safety, you will have the opportunity to work with new and advanced technologies and equipment. You will be approachable and flexible in dealing with members of the public and their work unit, self-motivated to complete tasks and adaptable to changing work situations and must work well in an environment that recognizes, supports, respects and welcomes diversity of employees and clients.



To qualify for this position you will hold a valid class 3A drivers license with the ability to upgrade to class 1a within six months of appointment to this position.
