The Environmental Support Division of the Ministry of Environment requires an energetic and highly-motivated individual to become a part of a team that is responsible for financial management and planning in the ministry
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the ministry's financial plans, including capital plans. You will also be required to provide advice or consult with senior management to ensure these plans are integrated with the ministry's strategic plan and demonstrate fiscal responsibility to the ministry's many stakeholders. This position will also be responsible for the research and analysis of key financial trends and issues to determine the impact on program delivery; evaluate programs and policies, as well as develop risk profiles and determine business improvement opportunities.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, budgeting practices and public sector financial management which will enable you to demonstrate fiscal responsibility to the ministry's many stakeholders and be able to identify, explore and evaluate program delivery options considering financial and administrative implications, determine feasibility of proposal, make recommendations and negotiate appropriate alternatives.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position will be obtained through the completion of a degree in Administration, Commerce or Public Administration. An accounting designation and financial management within the public sector environment would be a definite asset.
