Yarrow Youth Farm is a young offender facility located at the west edge of Saskatoon that provides developmental programs and residential custody to Open Custody youth ages 12 - 18 being held under the provisions of The Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Reporting to the Program Supervisors, the Youth Facility Worker will work as part of a team in providing a dynamic developmental program. Staff are required to provide positive leadership and direction, assessment, counseling, case management services (assessment, interpersonal and problem solving skills) and custodial supervision which includes; night time supervision, transportation and care and support to the residents. When part of the Work Crew team you will be required to participate in an Employment Readiness Program that includes but not limited to; various labor intensive projects such as wood cutting and delivery as well as employment readiness workshop lessons. Safe use and maintenance of wood cutting and splitting machinery is required. You will frequently lead and participate in community and outdoor programs including pow wows, hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, team sports and other similar activities.
The youth residence operates on a continuous seven days/week basis. The successful applicant will be required to be available to work a variety of non-traditional shifts and hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays You will be required to provide proof of current CPR and first aid certificates. In addition, you must possess a valid driver?s license in order to transport youth and families.
