The Ministry of Social Services, Child and Family Services has a Term position available for a Resources Worker located in Moose Jaw, Sask.
The Ministry is committed to providing quality residential services for children and youth in care. This is be accomplished by supporting foster families through foster recruitment, training, development and support using the PRIDE Model of Practice (Parent Resources for Information, Development and Education). Foster care protects and nurtures children, helps children meet their developmental needs, supports relationships between children and their families and connects children to relationships meant to last a lifetime.
This position will be responsible for managing a caseload of approved foster homes and/or involved in activities related to training of new applicants or extended family home studies.
Managing a caseload of approved foster homes requires strong case management skills, the ability to arrange placements utilizing complete and accurate assessment of a child's needs and knowledge of a foster parent's strengths. You will assess and address concerns that may arise and support and coordinate services for foster parents in order to ensure foster home retention.
Where managing a caseload of foster home or alternate care applicants, you may also be involved in a variety of additional tasks which can include training, completion of in-depth written assessments and reviews. You may also be responsible for completion of extended family home studies which assist with permanency planning for children in care of the Minister. Strong assessment and writing skills along with an ability to provide training to people from a wide variety of backgrounds are required to perform this role.
Urban and rural travel within the area is required. You must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
