The Emergency Management and Fire Safety Branch with the Ministry of Government Relations is seeking a highly motivated, capable and energetic individual to manage the development and implementation of provincial emergency management strategies.
Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner/Director of Emergency Preparedness and Inter-Agency Cooperation, this position will be an integral part of the Government Relations mandate to promote safe communities through public safety initiatives at the municipal, provincial and national levels. This position will be responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of various provincial emergency management requirements of the Provincial Emergency Management Plan, the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre (PEOC) and support to related committees. This position will work with other provincial ministries, crowns and agencies, as well as national partners to develop and advance emergency management strategies and work plans in the area of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. This position will also provide training and education to these stakeholders. In addition, this position may be required to provide support to provincial emergency operations.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through experience in the emergency management field combined with the completion of specialized emergency management courses at a post-secondary institution or job related training for delivery of provincial programs in areas of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery.
