Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-liaison with EPCM company performing design/construction of solution potash mine/mill complex
-managing process design/plant layout issues & reviewing equipment selections that maximize operability/safety/maintainabiity/reliability
-liaison with brinefield/plant operations staff to optimize brine constitution, volumes & process parameters for reliable plant operational output
-managing operation and optimization of in-house computerized process model
-planning/developing future expansion phases/co-product plant processes
-supervising chemical engineers/technologists, consultants/vendors in completion of required studies, analyses, designs, equipment selection, etc.
-assisting in the group development of the Plant Maintenance Program & Safety Management System
-preparing reports & assisting upper management in all other required business areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Degree in Chemical Engineering & eligible to register with APEGS
-10 to 15 year's experience (with 5 years potash)
-eligible to work in Canada and travel to U.S. and Germany to review work done by consultants & perform equipment review/inspection with vendors
-experience in salt chemistry, partiularly potash & knowledge of interactions with sodium chloride & magnesium chloride salts
-experience in process design/project management in chemical/mining industry
-experience with computerized chemical models such as ASPEN or OLI
-supervisory experience over process engineers,metallurgists and technologists
-knowledge/experience with effective plant maintenance/safety management systems
-proficiency in English & strong communication skills
