The Provincial Court in North Battleford requires a highly motivated and responsible individual to perform duties as the Clerk of the Court and provide assistance to the Provincial Court Judge while court is in session.  

After careful preparation, you will attend court and accurately endorse the Informations with the disposition of the court, administer oaths to witnesses, complete a list of witnesses and exhibits tendered.  You will also be responsible for the operation of important digital recording equipment. Attention to detail is essential in this position as you will prepare, inspect and certify legal documents ensuring accuracy and compliance with the applicable legislation. As you will be working in a potentially hostile and dangerous work environment, you must be able to recognize volatile situations and react to them in an appropriate manner.

Your technical expertise will assist you when you enter and retrieve data onto the Justice Automated Information Network computer database system, prepare the daily court docket and produce complex court documents and/or instruct clerical support staff in this regard. You will also prepare and/or instruct clerical support staff to prepare court orders and other complex documents not on the computer database system using a personal computer or lap top.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for the position would be acquired through related court or legal experience. The successful candidate must be willing to hold appointment as a Justice of the Peace and perform duties as outlined in the applicable legislation. You must also have the ability to make independent decisions based on legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

The successful candidate shall be subject to a Criminal Record Check, including a vulnerable sector query, as a condition of employment.
