This is a senior management level position for the Town of Kindersley, Saskatchewan that reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The Director of Finances & Business Planning oversees the general operation of the Financial and Business Planning Department and its employees, and is the key manager in all matters related to financial management and business planning for the Corporation of the Town of Kindersley. This position provides financial leadership, business management, and economic development direction and advice to Administration and to Council.
-To protect and ensure efficient use of the Town of Kindersley financial resources
-To ensure a proper system of internal controls is developed and/or maintained and followed by all departments within the Town
-To research and prepare annual and long-term capital and operating budgets
-To ensure pertinent, timely and accurate financial information is available to Town Council, the CAO, and Senior Managers.
- To oversee an efficient and cost effective asset management program
-To assist and oversee asset/liability/capital accounts, and insurance needs
-To assist and audit the reconciling of asset, liability, capital, income and expense accounts and the producing of monthly financial reports
-Manage investments and reserves
-Develop and implement purchasing practices and monitor the purchasing system
-Ensures compliance with financial legislation, policies and procedures
-To oversee the development and implementation of strategies designed to improve and nurture the Town?s relationship with the local and regional business community with a view towards attracting and retaining business
-To identify/review/propose taxation and fee policies
-To help to create an environment where Kindersley is seen as a place of economic progress and activity
