Description

As a growing health authority, NITHA has an opening for a passionate Medical Health Officer to join its team in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will provide leadership and direction for the team of professional staff working within the NITHA Public Health Unit.

NITHA is seeking an experienced and engaging public health leader who is committed to public health promotion and disease prevention by embracing a people/client centred approach.

The Medical Health Officer will possess a wide range of experience in dealing with communicable disease issues and in developing appropriate public health promotion strategies in various community based contexts.

NITHA requires a strategic and energetic executive who possesses the following key qualifications:

    Medical Doctor Degree with a Fellowship in Community Medicine and a Masters Degree in Public Health;
    License to practice medicine in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada and or eligible for a Medical Health Officer licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Physicians and Surgeons;
    A minimum of 5 years' experience in public health with strong clinical skills;
    Demonstrated management and administrative skills that incorporate the following: strategic planning, project management, development and oversight of work plans and policy development;
    Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to work closely with a variety of stakeholders;
    Identified experience with health data analysis and interpretation to identify patterns of communicable and non-communicable disease leading to the preparation of health status reports;
    Demonstrated leadership skills with an ability to work interdependently;
    Willingness to work flexible hours and travel extensively; and
    Knowledge of First Nations culture and history and/or experience in working with indigenous cultures would be a definite asset.
