Description
McKercher LLP, a full service law firm with over 60 lawyers is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant in the Saskatoon office. You will be assisting lawyers and clients as they work through legal proceedings, including providing assistance with document preparation and administrative functions. This position involves working under tight time schedules and on numerous files at any given time.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent technical and administrative skills; have the ability to prioritize and expedite workflow; possess the ability to handle changing priorities; and be extremely organized. The incumbent will be articulate and will have impeccable writing skills.
Your required skills and knowledge include:
- Handling and prioritizing workload independently; calendaring deadlines; assisting with trial preparation; finalizing legal documents using Microsoft Word; and fielding telephone inquiries
- Processing large volumes of documents
- Meeting strict deadlines
- Communicating in a professional manner with lawyers, other team members, and clients
- Possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Exercise independent judgment and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
To be successful in the role, you have:
- At least 5 years experience in a legal assistant environment. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in areas of litigation
- Advanced PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and Outlook along with the ability to learn other firm-specific software
- Knowledge of Summation would be an asset
- The ability to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative
