Description
As a Research Engineer at SRCs Pipe Flow Technology CentreTM, you will manage lab analyses and pipe loop experiments for a variety of research projects. You will perform experimental work, assist in method development, modify procedures, track results and prepare client reports. You will coordinate the construction and commissioning of the facilitys expansion, which involves installing equipment to handle volatile materials and high temperature and pressure applications in a Class 1, Division 1 facility. You will play a key role in marketing our expanded facilities and developing and managing projects related to the expansion. You will participate in safety and hazard assessments, develop SOPs and analyze pipe flow problems.
As the ideal candidate, you have a M.Sc. or PhD in chemical or mechanical engineering and five to fifteen years of industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related industry experience (at least five years of industrial experience is required). Candidates with less experience may be considered for an Intermediate Research Engineer position. You have experience with SAGD, oil upgrading, refining and systems involving steam, gases and chemical and/or hydrocarbon processing. An academic background in experimental fluid mechanics, pipe flow, process design and/or multiphase flow is considered an asset. You have experience in managing industrial research projects and building relationships with clients and colleagues. You have experience working with pilot-scale lab and process equipment and can use data acquisition systems. You are a team player and willing to learn new things.
