The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke and reducing their impact through the advancement of research and its application, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy for social change. In 2010, we invested more than $106 million into research, health promotion and community programs. We rely on the generous donations of millions of Canadians and the support of more than 130,000 volunteers.
The Director, Philanthropy will provide strategic leadership and management of major gift fundraising at HSF in directing the efforts of a team of skilled fundraising professionals and support staff. He/she will work in the Major Gift office to achieve the highest priority needs of the Heart and Stroke Foundation and personally manage a portfolio of approximately 150 accounts and donors at various stages of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
The incumbent will have a mastery of the technical and analytic aspects of the development industry and have a tremendous flair and genuine interest for interacting with people. This includes superior communication and relationship-building skills with donors and volunteers and an inspired leadership ability to work with staff.
