Description

The Prairie Post, Maple Creek News-Times and Shaunavon Standard newspapers are looking to fill a reporter/photographer position.
Based in Swift Current, this position requires exceptional creativity and adaptability to reach the readers of more than 60 communities within our circulation region in southwest Saskatchewan. The successful applicant will have a portfolio of unique and well-executed photographs and clean, dynamic writing - both of which will cover a wide range of topics. Much of the writing will be hard news such as civic, economic and political, but there will be plenty of opportunities to do features as well. Those with knowledge of sports will get special consideration.
Applicants need to have experience with QuarkXPress, Photoshop and laying out pages. Experience with NewsEditPro and Microsoft Word is also an asset.
We are a Canadian-owned publication. Our owners have weekly and daily publications serving communities throughout Canada. If you are interested in a career in the print media business, here is your opportunity to grow and advance with a major company. We have also won national and provincial newspaper association awards for our work at all three newspapers.
Applicants must have a valid driver's licence with a good driver's abstract and their own vehicle. Travel within the Saskatchewan market area is mandatory. Owning a newspaper quality camera is also a major asset.
We offer a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental and disability, plus expenses and salary based on qualifications and experience. Only qualified applicants will be contacted for interviews.
Applicants from western Canada are highly preferred and an in-person interview will be required of shortlisted candidates. Deadline date is June 11.
