Job Description
The community nutritionist provides nutrition activities at an individual, group and population level in the community. The community nutritionist engages in community
development and health outreach activities in the community.
Education
- Bachelors of Science degree in Nutrition with the completion of an approved Dietitians of Canada internship.
- Memberships in Saskatchewan Dietitian's Association and Dietitians of Canada.
Other Education and Training
- Bachelor of Dietetics is acceptable
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of health promotion principles and the determinants of health, community based organizations and governmental service sector, program planning and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to work with marginalized groups, participate in community needs assessment, establish and maintain effective working relationships, work independently and in a self-motivated manner, organize a demanding workload and manage conflicting work priorities, work cooperatively as a multidisciplinary team member which may include one on one work with clients.
- Demonstrates skills in the area of oral and written communication, group education, adult education, discretion and good judgement.
Other Information
- Previous work with grant applicants, budgets, planning and development of programming is an asset.
