Rooted Connections is currently seeking skilled, professional and empathetic individuals as Interpreters who speak Kinyarwanda and currently reside in Regina SK, for our Newcomer Intensive Family Support Program in a contract capacity.
Interpreters may be contracted for meetings, case conference and communication on Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The hours will be flexible to meet the needs of families in our program.
The Interpreter will possess the necessary skills, expertise and experience to perform interpretation including:
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal communication in the English language and target language(s).
Interpret orally and sight translate between Rooted Connections staff, other service providers and client(s) for in-person meetings, message relays and conference calls.
Convey the oral conversation clearly and accurately according to the language level of the client.
Provide cross cultural brokering if needed.
The interpreter will interpret impartially without addition, omission, distortion or embellishment of meaning in both English and target languages.
The interpreter agrees to work collaboratively with Rooted Connections staff prior to and after an appointment as needed (e.g. meeting plan, cultural brokering).
Interpreters contracted by Rooted Connections are expected to behave consistent with the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Saskatchewan Code of Ethics. A complete copy of the Code can be viewed at http://atisask.ca/pages/code-of-ethics.
