Job Summary
Reporting to the Team Lead/Manager, the Health Educator plays a crucial role in the development of health care plans and ensures the inclusion of social, psychological, emotional and physical health of First Nations and Metis patients. The Educator will provide individuals, families, and groups with the psychosocial support needed to cope with chronic, acute, or terminal illnesses. Services include: advising family members, providing patient education and support, and making referrals to appropriate services. The Educator may also provide care; case management or interventions designed to promote health, support cultural/traditional practices, and address barriers to access healthcare.
Education
A recognized health degree (Social Work, Registered Nursing, M.A. Psychology) and registration with appropriate licensing body.
Experience
Preference will be given to candidates who are fluent in Indigenous languages common to the region.
