Required experience: at least 2 years civil litigation experience/ability to handle all phases of litigation from discovery through trial; experience in medical negligence, administrative law, tribunals, appeals, and judicial review; experience in assisting on legal proceedings and drafting pleadings and legal documents before the Federal Court, tribunals, provincial courts, appellate courts and Supreme Court of Canada
Duties will include the following: Draft pleadings and legal documents; Assist on legal proceedings; Assemble documentary evidence in preparation for trial; Research records, court files, and other legal documents; Draft legal correspondence; Oversee maintenance of judicial court records; Interview clients, witnesses and other related parties; Perform clerical duties, such as maintain filing systems; Arrange pre-trial conferences and hearings; Schedule court rials; Coordinating actions with local counsel to minimize legal costs and turnaround time; Maintaining cloud-based legal files and managing legal software applications
Were looking for someone who can work on a fast-paced environment, can work under pressure, highly focused and attentive to detail, a motivated self-starter with superior organizational and time management skills, and the ability to manage large caseload and multiple projects. Strong drafting and written and oral communication skills in English are necessary.
Qualifications/credentials: Bachelor's degree relevant to the job and In-house training from a law firm or law clerk program
Salary is $33.00/hr, 40hr work week.
