Job Description: The Nurse Practitioner RN (NP) is an advanced practice nurse with knowledge and skills gained through additional education and experience. The Nurse Practitioner blends an in-depth knowledge of nursing with the legal authority to support the full range of options for assessment, treatment and longitudinal management of children and adults with metabolic disorders on a provincial basis. The RN (NP) practices within a framework of evidence-based care for newborn screening, inpatient and outpatient clinical assessment, education, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, counselling and management of metabolic disorders, diseases and conditions. The Nurse Practitioner supports patients and their families and coordinates a seamless patient journey. Promotes and supports the Saskatchewan Health Authority vision for patient centered care. The RN (NP) collaborates with interdisciplinary team members and liaises with health professionals and agencies throughout the organization (province) to facilitate high quality care for the patient and family seeking this service. The RN (NP) plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates both public and health professional awareness and educational activities related to metabolic diseases and conditions. The position is primarily located in Saskatoon and responds to needs in all health facilities and dwellings within neighbouring urban and rural areas.
