Employment Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is usually
required
- Completion of a community college program in
food service administration, hotel and restaurant
management or related discipline OR several years
of experience in food preparation or service are
required
Experience:
2-3 years
Specific Skills:
Supervise and co-ordinate activities of staff who
prepare and portion food. Ensure food service and
quality control. Maintain records of stock,
repairs, sales and wastage.
Additional Skills:
Train staff in job duties, sanitation and safety
procedures. Establish methods to meet work
schedules.
Essential Skills:
Working with others, oral communication, reading
text, document use, writing, numeracy, problem
solving, decision making, critical thinking, job
task planning and organizing, significant use of
memory, computer use and finding information.
Working hours for food service supervisors usually
include days, evenings, weekends and holiday work.
