Description

The File Hills QuAppelle Tribal Council is a non-profit organization that provides a range of programs and services to 11 First Nations throughout Southern Saskatchewan within the Treaty Four Territory.

The Health Educator will work as part of the Miko-Mahikan Red Wolf Harm Reduction Team to assist in implementing the goals of FHQTC Health Services. This position will be responsible for working with the Team and communities to encompass a variety of initiatives that will include prevention focused activities, harm reduction strategies, HIV/HCV, opiate use disorder, and implement strategies of traditional practices of tobacco use. Working within a harm reduction and rights-based philosophy, this position will assist people to achieve their wellness goals while informed by the truth and reconciliation and calls to action.

Responsibilities
    Provide information and teachings to individuals regarding harm reduction, HIV/HCV, opiate use disorder, tobacco cessation
    Coordinate and conduct workshop, training, and other activities requested by FHQTC member First Nations, FHQTC Programs, and ANHH

Qualifications:
    Two-year diploma in health or education, and two years experience working in a health care setting
    Exceptional interpersonal and public relations skills
    Exceptional oral and written communication skills
    Ability to plan and deliver education and training programs
    Ability to work in a team setting and be self-motivated
    Demonstrated knowledge and ability to work within First Nations Traditional and Spiritual Institutes.
    Ability to provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive care.
    Must possess a valid drivers license and own vehicle
