This center aims to provide a holistic and evidence-based approach to address the complex needs of families experiencing trauma and substance abuse disorder while focusing on delivering outcomes and recovery-based care.
The Registered Nurse will work with existing wrap around care and support offered by The Carter House through a harm reduction and trauma informed lens. The Registered Nurse will assist with coordination of medical care and follow up for both clients and infants related to but not limited to, medication adherence, managing MARs, fielding medical concerns, consulting with Pediatrics, Infectious Disease, facilitating medical appointments, child care, harm reduction, mood assessments and referrals to Primary Health Care.
The RN must have the ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with clients from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds, and maintain an effective working relationship with other members of The Carter House team, as well as community health care providers and agencies.
Qualification and Skills
Bachelor Degree in Nursing
Experience in Public health, pediatric care and or Mental Health and Addiction nursing is an asset.
Maintenance of accurate client charts
Strong knowledge of service providers within the areas we serve
An understanding of the issues related to communicable disease, poverty, addiction, trauma and mental health
Understanding of trauma informed care and its role in providing culturally sensitive and appropriate interventions for populations who have been exposed to trauma
Understanding of harm reduction and its role in providing addictions treatment and health care
Willingness to work with a team and independently
