The Communications Branch of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources is seeking a highly skilled, creative, and motivated communications expert to lead a small but strong team of dedicated communications professionals promoting the responsible development of Saskatchewans resource sectors.
This position provides the opportunity to be at the forefront of sectors shaping the future of Saskatchewans economy. We are the worlds largest producer of potash, second largest producer of uranium and positioned to lead in emerging critical minerals such as lithium and helium. We are Canadas second largest producer of oil and gas and a world leader in carbon capture, storage and utilization research. Our northern forestry sector has over $1 billion in annual sales and employs a higher percentage of Indigenous people than any other forestry sector in Canada.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, the Director implements strategic communications to help achieve Saskatchewans Growth Plan goals in growing the oil and gas, mining, and forestry sectors. The Director assists in preparing the Ministrys strategic plan and budget, provides advice to senior management, staff, and the Ministers Office. This position assigns and ensures timely and quality communications including external publications, speeches, feature articles, news releases, internal communications, and the organization of the Ministrys participation in external trade shows and conferences.
To qualify for this position, you must have a comprehensive theoretical and practical understanding of strategic communications, with a grasp of public policy issues, and expertise in media relations, issues management and internal communications. Superior verbal and written communications skills, interpersonal skills, leadership, and the capacity to excel in high-pressure situations are also necessary.
