Gather written prescriptions, refill requests, or relevant information according to Standard Operating Procedures
Receive telephone refill requests, app refill requests, and faxes.
Input patient, third party insurance, and prescription information into the Kroll computer system
Under the supervision of a Pharmacist: accurately count, measure, weigh, and reconstitute medications; package; and label prescriptions according to NAPRA pharmacy standards and the FCL Formulary.
Locate and cash out prescriptions and other supplies while verifying patient identity and following standard operating procedures and HIPAA guidelines. Also identify prescriptions that will require pharmacist consultation and refer all clinical inquiries to pharmacist.
Administrative duties such as manual third party billings, third party reconciliation, inventory counts, prescription and documentation filing,
Assist with opening/closing duties, such as the lock and leave panels, gate, and cash-up of till.
Assist with influenza vaccination clinics where appropriate
Schedule professional clinical services (ie Medication Reviews, vaccinations, etc)
Provide support and assistance to the Pharmacists as required
Follow Pharmacist direction and Standing Operating Procedures, and understand and comply with all federal and provincial legislation, policies, and standards of pharmacy practice, as well as Beeland Co-op Store Policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates Pharmacy Assistant Certificate, or the equivalent knowledge and experience.
Previous Pharmacy Assistant experience is considered an asset.
Must have strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and very good interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, staff, and management
Ability to work as a team player and to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
Good organizational skills
Computer skills are required, experience with Kroll or other pharmacy software is considered an asset.
