Job Description:
Cardiac sonographers or echocardiographers use ultrasound system/equipment to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart and blood vessel conditions.
Job Duties:
To perform complete echocardiography studies according to the American Society of Echocardiography guidelines
To perform clerical related duties such as filing, photocopying, record retention , patient check-in, procedure completion, telephone answering as required
To perform routine calibration and maintenance of equipment such as cleaning, inspection, calibrating & replacing parts such as batteries, leads, papers
To report any malfunction to the appropriate authority
To maintain adequate stock of necessary supplies in accordance with established procedures
To notify appropriate members of the health care team such as physician or nurse of significant ECG abnormalities or echocardiographic findings in accordance with established procedures
To assist the care team in dealing with medical emergencies
To be certified and to maintain active certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
To achieve and maintain the required Continuous Medical Education (CME) credits.
Education:
Bachelor degree or College level diploma/certificate in Technical/Applied Science
Knowledge of complex cardiac anatomy, cardiac pathology & basic electrocardiography
Knowledge/skills of how to operate the medical ultrasound system.
Experience:
At least 1 year of experience in adult echocardiography
