The shop supervisor will lead in all aspects of the machine shop (infrastructure, the people, and the work) through effective planning, organization, and supervision.
This position requires an individual with strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate employees. Must have strong organizational skills and be capable of making informed decisions. Responsible for coordinating workflow and promoting a safe workplace.
Responsibilities:
-Schedule work for machinists
-Work collectively with weld shop to accommodate schedule
-Host toolbox meetings
-Document and schedule maintenance on equipment
-General shop organization ensuring an organized workplace
-Oversee workflow to ensure quality and timeliness
-Make sure all materials are ready for work to be done
-Maintain inventory of tooling and consumables
-Work with customers when needed
-Keep management informed of required equipment repairs
-Repair/oversee equipment repair
-See jobs through from start to finish
-Ensure attendance and timecard procedures are followed
-Assist in quality control of completed parts
-Hand in completed work orders
-Problem solving to ensure workflow
Qualifications:
-Minimum of 5 years of machine shop experience
-Proven leadership skills
-Strong organizational skills
-Ability to schedule and delegate work
-Welding and Fabrication experience and asset
-A desire to work in a fast-paced environment
-Detail orientated
-Excellent communication skills
