Description

The Indigenous Resource Officer will assist Indigenous victims of crime and their families through the following:

Assist in the development and management of day-to-day operations of the Victim Services program
Assist and support Indigenous victims of crime and their families
Focus on advocacy and referrals for Indigenous victims
Administrative support
Community relations
Personal and professional development

KNOWLEDGE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Minimum of Grade 12; preferably with training in Indigenous Studies and/or work experience in a related field
Demonstrate flexibility and time management skills
Ability to work independently while within a team
Must be cognizant of the issues, concerns, and struggles faced by victims of crime specific to Indigenous people
Must demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral
Demonstrate ability to use good judgement skills when working with Indigenous people
Knowledge of, and experience with, cultural traditions and beliefs of Indigenous people
Basic computer skills
Knowledge of proceedings of the Justice System
Skills in interviewing, listening, and supporting individuals
Knowledge of the communities served and resources available
Basic understanding of working within a budget
Valid Saskatchewan Drivers license
