Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Finance Assistant III position supports all finance office functions and focuses on accounts payable. The Finance Assistant III will be supervised by the Director of Finance and accountable to the Kahkewistahaw Chief and Council. The position involves handling accounting transactions, including recording transactions, cheque processing, bank reconciliation, posting, ledgers coding, invoicing forms as well as managing purchase orders and journal entries. A few key competencies required include maintaining a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information, accuracy and attention to detail in all transactions. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity in financial dealings, process strong time management skills to meet deadlines and have effective problem-solving skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
1.Possess a grade 12 or equivalent.
2.Minimum of 1-2 years of computerized accounting experience.  
3.Strong attention to detail to support the file management and data entry of the finance department.
4.Must have good written and oral communication skills to effectively deal with band members, employees, external agencies, and the Chief and Council.  
5.Must maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate a pleasant, courteous, and professional demeanor, while also being punctual, reliable, and committed to upholding confidentiality in all matters.  
6.Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines, possess excellent time management skills, take direction, and work with minimal supervision.
