Qualifications:
-A degree, diploma, or certificate in Communications, Media, Journalism, or a related area of study. A minimum 2-3 years related experience
-Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both verbal and written to write and format moderately complex correspondence, including media releases, memos, letters, etc.
-Requires knowledge of computers and software programs in order to enter, retrieve and format data
-Requires knowledge of syntax, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary in order to write, edit and produce communication materials
-Knowledge of applicable data privacy laws
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Manage, plan and develop internal and external communications strategies, programs, policies and activities including issues and reputation management, visual identification, employee media, public relations and promotions.
-Gather, synthesize and report information to be used in communicating legislation, board positions, programs and policies, i.e., annual report.
-Coordinate and report on scheduled annual events/projects which include: new teacher orientation; NATA convention/new teacher banquet; retirement tea; years of service awards, school board elections, etc.
-Promotion of monthly themes/events and support indigenization: National Education Week, Anti-Bullying Week, Orange Shirt Day, National Indigenous Peoples Day, Louis Riel Day, Staff Shout Outs, etc.
-Use and promote the usage of Division social media (Facebook, Instagram, X) for the purpose of professional learning and communication of events and activities by school and office staff.
-Overall content manager for the Divisions website and support local school websites.
-Other tasks as defined by the Director of Education.
