Description

As part of the Rapid Access Counselling program, provides counselling, therapy, & related services to children, youth & their families & caregivers seeking help with personal/interpersonal problems.  May also provide group therapy & engage in community collaborations.  

Duties:
Provide counselling, therapy & related services to children, youth, their families, & caregivers in various settings.  Include initial assessments to determine needs & goals
Develop service plans tailored to the needs of each individual
Participate in program development
Attend relevant agency meetings, be knowledgeable about agency programs/community activities
Perform related administration & record keeping
Participate in clinical supervision
Work outside of regular operating hours, including evenings &/or weekends
Work at various locations in & around Saskatoon, Martensville & Warman
Other duties as assigned

Education:
Degree in Social Work (BSW/BISW).
1-3 years supervised clinical experience in a related or relevant counselling area
Eligible for registration with & maintain good standing in a relevant professional assn

Areas of Knowledge:

Theories/practices of
    o counselling
    o human development, behavior & change
    o communication & conflict resolution
    o trauma- & violence-informed approaches
Able to navigate consent with children, youth, & their caregivers
Able to assess high risk clients (suicidal) & intervene quickly & appropriately
Able to recognize signs & symptoms of other mental health disorders & refer client to appropriate service provider
Experience with evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children & youth mental health & behavioral concerns
Able to work in cross-cultural environments
Experience facilitating group work & knowledge of group dynamics
Caseload management
Able to deal with people experiencing difficult, unusual, &/or challenging situations
Valid drivers license, access to a personal vehicle
