Description

The City of Swift Current is seeking an individual for the position of Disclosure Detachment Service Assistant for the City Detachment RCMP. This is a temporary full-time position for 12 months.

Under the direction of the Police Service Detachment Manager, this position will be responsible for performing varied functions with the primary focus on compiling data that relates to file disclosure including paper, electronic and video footage. This position also assists when able, in  supporting the policing team with other administrative duties such as general inquiries, dispatch police radio communication, preparation of legal documents, letters, forms and documents, file maintenance, and other related duties.  

Basic Requirements:
Grade 12 and successful completion of a secretarial or office administration program at a community college, technical or vocational school or institute.
Must be able to meet existing RCMP security clearance standards, including fingerprint check.
Must possess or be eligible to become a Commissioner for Oaths.
Must be willing to become Youth Certified.  
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment, and familiarity with computers and windows-based applications.
Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public.
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities
Ability to adapt to new and changing situations and embraces new challenges
Ability to handle a variety of projects at one time and;
Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Desirable Requirements:
Typing/keyboarding skill of 55 wpm
Dispatching procedures; and
Clerical experience in a law enforcement agency
