Description

Flying Dust First Nation Health and Wellness division is seeking a dedicated individual to provide Community Wellness under the supervision of the Team Supervisor.  The Community Wellness Worker (CWW) provides counseling, crisis, prevention, and education services to the community members.  The CWW adheres to a holistic vision of healing and wellness, and the professional Code of Ethics and Oath of Confidentiality.  The CWW is also expected to practice a drug, alcohol & gambling free lifestyle.

Objectives of the program are:
    To promote positive mental health of community members though information sharing, knowledge enhancement, community development and prevention activities.
    To provide support to individuals in the aftermath of community crisis, stress, or trauma.

Duties & Responsibilities:
    Provides culturally relevant counseling service on a wide range of life issues to individuals, family, and groups in the community.
    Completes and submits monthly service reports to the Team Supervisor.
    Ensures that all client files are up to date, complete and maintained in a secure and confidential manner.
    Designs and facilitates education and prevention activities.
    Participating in team meetings & training as directed by the Team Supervisor.

Requirements:  
    Relevant university degree preferred, (B.S.W. or B.I.S.W) and/or Diploma in Occupational Health or Public Health
    3  5 years of experience with community-based programs.
    Broad range of knowledge and experience in service provision.
    Experience working with First Nations and sensitivity to their culture, values, and beliefs.
    Proficient with computers, i.e., Microsoft Office
    Must provide a current RCMP Criminal Record Check
    Must possess a valid drivers license.
    Must maintain and support strict confidentiality.
    Ability to build a rapport with a wide variety of people.
