Job Description

HJR Asphalt Inc. is currently seeking a skilled Journeyperson Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our team. Taking direction from the Fleet Manager and Operations Support Manager, the Heavy-Duty Mechanic is responsible for working on a variety of road construction equipment including pavers, rollers, skid-steers, wheel loaders and semi trucks/trailers. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable working on hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatic equipment and confident in their ability to problem solve. We are looking for a driven, ambitious individual who can work both independently and as a team to achieve company goals. This position requires regular travel to job sites across Saskatchewan during the summer months, and significant overtime.

Qualifications:

Minimum class 5 Drivers License
Must possess a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic ticket
3 years experience working directly on heavy equipment
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge and ability to use a computer and read schematics
Willingness to travel outside of Saskatoon
Willingness to work overtime

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work on a variety of road construction equipment including pavers, rollers, skid-steers, wheel loaders and semi trucks/trailers
Perform maintenance and repairs on hydraulics, electrical, and pneumatic equipment
Regularly communicate with the Operations Support Manager and Fleet Manager about repair & maintenance projects
Travel around the province to job sites in the summer as directed
Assist in organizing and delegating maintenance projects
Provide guidance to apprentices as required
Engage in the company safety program by performing regular equipment inspections and participating in daily safety meetings
