First Nation Representative Services support First Nations when children, youth, young adults and families from their Nation are involved or at risk of involvement with the child and family services system. First Nation Representative Services is critically important to First Nations and in ensuring that the rights of First Nations children and youth are respected within the child and family services system. The First Nation Representative will be engaging with child and family services providers and participating in child and family service matters as set out in provincial, territorial and federal child and family services laws. The First Nations Representative will report to the One Arrow First Nation Child and Family Well-Being Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and understanding of provincial child and family services legislation, regulations, polices/procedures and the FSIN Indian Child Welfare and Family Support Act.
-Familiarity and understanding of challenges encountered by First Nations youth and families.
-An understanding of the dynamics of First Nations family systems.
-Ability to interpret legislation and legal documents.
-Very organized with both written and oral data.
-Ability to work independently and self-motivated.
-Ability to build teamwork, cooperation and communication amongst multiple departments and program teams.
- Effective project planning and coordinating skills.
- Knowledge of case management techniques.
- Must provide a current original Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) with vulnerable sector search as a condition of employment.
- Must have a valid class 5 driver's license.
EDUCATION:
- Post secondary degree in Social Work, Human Justice or any other human services related degrees will be considered.
