Description

The File Hills QuAppelle Tribal Council is a dynamic and progressive organization that provides a range of programs and health services which serve eleven First Nations throughout Southern Saskatchewan within the Treaty Four Territory.  The position is based at the All Nations Healing Hospital, located in Fort QuAppelle, SK.  

Reporting to the Director of Programs & Community Services or her designate, the Indigenous Birth Support Worker will work as part of the Community Health Maternal Child Health Program and Womens Health Team to provide wholistic care to women and families within the eleven FHQTC communities. The Indigenous Birth Support Worker will offer support and help to pregnant women, advocate for the mother to support a positive birth experience and ensure cultural traditions and/or ceremonies are available and respected.  The Indigenous Birth Support Worker will provide women and their partners with emotional support, physical comfort, and information during pregnancy, labor, and in the post-partum period.

Qualifications:
    Grade 12
    Completion of Birth Doula Studies Program
    Experience working in maternal child health an asset
    Valid class 5 licence
    CPIC & Vulnerable Sectors check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Basic knowledge of physiology of birth
    Knowledge, understanding, and cultural humility working with First Nations
     Ability to work independently and as a member of the multidisciplinary team
    Strong interpersonal skills
    Organizational skills
    Ability to work independently
    Basic computer skills

Hours of Work:     Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (7.5 hrs/day). Flexibility may be required based on operational requirements.
