Pleasant Hill Place (PHP) is a home for women who have children that have been placed in care, or women who may be at risk of having their children placed in such care. They could be homeless or on the verge of homelessness and in need of a variety of supports to help create a path toward independent living, positive parenting and self-reliance.
Program staff assist in all daily activities with emphasis on life skills training, and employment development activities as related to the residents, as well as assisting in the operations of the program.
Qualifications for this position is:
Availability for Overnights; Monday to Friday (starts Sunday at midnight to Monday at 8am and so on for 40 hours a week)
Experience working with people from marginalized communities
Knowledge of the beliefs and values of Aboriginal cultures
Awareness of community resources and how to access them
Excellent leadership, organizational and communication skills
Mediation/conflict resolution and problem solving skills;
Post-secondary education in the human services field, equivalent experience or a combination of both. Social work and/or Early Childhood education would be an asset
Experience in parenting or in supporting parents
Good critical thinking skills
