The Ministry of Highways, Traffic Guidance Operations is seeking an organized, motivated Permanent Equipment Operator for the Pavement Marking Crew. In this position, you will be responsible to survey/pre-mark newly overlaid sections of the highway, and you will plan and install pavement signs in an assigned geographical area. This position involves extensive travel throughout the province requiring the individual to be away from home for up to 60% of the time.

In this position, you will be responsible to:

- Operate and maintain heavy and light equipment in the application and support of highway pavement marking (light and tandem trucks, forklift, loaders, walk behind sprayers and line removers, etc.);
- Place 4x8 plywood arrow templates on the road surface; operate paint and glass bead hand-held spray equipment;
- Traffic control; set up work zones by erecting signs;
- Monitor quality of application of paint, adjust as necessary, and report as required;
- Perform the duties of the position in a safe manner and in compliance with OH&S Regulations;
- Possess basic computer skills in order to manage email, enter and submit timecards/expense claims, etc.

To qualify for this position, the successful candidate will:

- Hold a valid Class 3A or 1A drivers licence;
- Provide a current driver abstract (this is also an annual requirement); and
- Have the physical ability to frequently lift and carry materials weighing up 50 lbs.
