The position's primary responsibility is to provide professional task-based English as a Subsequent Language instruction to adult refugee and immigrant learners with literacy needs, while increasing their understanding of Canadian local, social, workplace and cultural norms. Language training is conducted in alignment with the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and the progress outcomes are assessed using the Portfolio-Based Language Assessment (PBLA) framework. Evaluation of learners, short and long-term instructional planning (lesson and unit planning) and regular reporting are position requirements.
Salary Level/Classification
The classification for this position is Professional Category 1. The annual salary for this position starts at
$52,854.94 ($30.12/hour) at Step 1 of Professional Category 1 prorated for 16.25 hours per week.
Classroom instruction will be conducted in a blended format (both online and in-person). Hours of work are Monday to Thursday, from 6:00 PM to 9:15 PM, including direct contact with learners from 6:30 PM to 8:45 PM.
