Description

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
    Encourage children and youth to express their feelings, and discuss their lives matters, in order to help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships. Excellent attending skills, ability to ask guided questions and honoring the children and youths pace and self-determination are highly regarded.
    Establishing therapeutic relationships by deeply listening to children and youths stories, slowly building trust, all while performing strict confidentiality. Invite questions and concerns at any time and make time during sessions for those questions.
    Guide children and youth in the development of skills and strategies to deal with their issues.
    Provide therapy to children and youth individually or in group settings, individual families, if appropriate or required. This may often occur during crisis when the need to establish stability and peacefulness is paramount.
    Meet with families, child and family services representatives, R.C.M.P officers, and any other interested parties to exchange necessary information during the treatment process with the approved knowledge of child, youth, parent/guardian.
    Plan, organize and lead or designate to identified other children and youth in need, as appropriate, structured programs of counseling, work/study, recreation, health (holistic) and interest/skill or social activities for them.
    Gather and become informed about community wellness/mental health and addictions needs and the community or regional resources that could be used in conjunction with mental health therapy services.
Qualifications:
    Degree in Mental Health and Wellness, Social Work, or Psychology
    ASIST and related training is an asset
    Experience in First Nations Health Services
    Minimum of (3) years of experience providing mental health therapy
    Must have a valid drivers license, a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel
