Description

The Water Security Agency is seeking two Flood Mitigation Specialists to join the Economic Development team in our Moose Jaw or Saskatoon location.

Competition Number: WSA-35-2024/25  Permanent    
Competition Number: WSA-36-2024/25  Term (3 1/2 yrs)

Reporting to the Director, Economic Development, an employee in this position will provide project management services on WSA flood mapping initiatives as well as other flood and drought mitigation and water related hazard identification and risk assessment studies and assignments.  

In addition, the employee will apply subject matter expertise in the development and implementation of survey plans, data management plans, GIS applications, computer modeling and extension and outreach plans.  

The work of this employee involves complex and enduring projects and requires the development and implementation of ongoing programming.  Strong writing and editing skills are required to create technical and professional-level policies and protocols, reports and memorandums.

The job requires strong communication, facilitation, presentation and mediation skills for leading collaborative forums within WSA and with other federal, provincial and municipal government agencies and the public.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Natural or Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or Public Administration or a similar discipline with a background in engineering technology, environmental studies, project management and public relations; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.  A Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred.
