The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Executive Director within the Lands and Resources Secretariat. The primary responsibility of the position is the implementation of Chiefs-in-Assembly and Commission resolutions, directives, policy decisions. Design structures, systems and processes that promote and aid the formulation, coordination, integration and implementation of Secretariat policy; and translate these policies into laws, regulations, strategies, programs or services. Ensures efficient and effective use of Secretariat human and financial resources, and to ensure the Secretariat provides quality services to the organization. Has overall responsibility for conduct of relationships/negotiations; preparation and monitoring of budget proposals, yearly expenditure plans, strategic plans, reports to funding agencies. Overall supervisory responsibility for all portfolio staff, consultants and contractors.
Planning/Policy Development
Designing structures, systems, and processes for identifying problems and opportunities, specifying objectives, defining activities, and evaluating the results.
Policy review and development, and leadership responsibility for research on area issues.
Conducts inquiries and formulating options of First Nation public policy for the consideration of and selection by Commissions and/or Executive.
Assists in negotiations surrounding new agreements or amendments to existing funding arrangements.
Directing and coordinating the drafting of legislation (laws or regulations or guidelines) and the design or programs, proposal and projects, along with the formulation of strategies. This is done in a hands-on fashion with assistance from analysts on technical matters.
Evaluates results with the commission and/or Tribal Councils.
