Grade 9 Teacher  2024-25 School Year

Canoe Lake Cree First Nation School is located in the boreal forest of Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. Its location is on the Lake Shore of Canoe Lake approximately thirty miles west of Beauval, and 130 km west of Meadow Lake. Driving distance is 1  hours to Meadow Lake on highway 903 with combined pavement and gravel. Canoe Lake School is a Nursery to Grade 12 School with an average 300 students. We offer subsidized housing, as well as local amenities such as 2 grocery stores with gas stations, an arena, clinic, and access to high speed internet. Canoe Lake is a Cree Speaking community, in the process of revitalizing the language and culture.



Skills/Education required for the position:

Be a certified teacher
Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited institution
Must be eligible for a Saskatchewan Professional A or Provisional Professional A teaching certificate
Experience in teaching Grade 8 will be preferred.
Follow the prescribed curriculum of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education;
Be willing to include students family and community members in classroom activities;

Have respect for and a working knowledge of Canadas First Nations and be willing to implement First Nations Culture, Values and History into the curriculum;

Have high standards and expectations for academic achievement, especially in the areas of literacy and numeracy;

Have excellent classroom management skills and ability in utilizing positive classroom and behavior management strategies;

Accommodate and include special needs children by adjusting teaching styles and curriculum as required for inclusion.
Must have knowledge of the Cree Culture and/or Land-Based Education.
