Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) has a career opportunity for a Senior Indigenous Engagement
Advisor.
Accountabilities
Assist and support the Senior Director, Indigenous Relations in the development and delivery against the annual work plan and priorities. Regularly perform an environmental scan and apprise senior leadership of potential risks
Keep up to date on current trends within Indigenous communities and advise the SRC team of these trends
Facilitate community engagement and SRCs communications with local communities
Provide strategic and tactical support to all areas of SRC regarding Indigenous issues and opportunities; provide guidance and direction to enable understanding of Indigenous policy,
processes and cultural norms
Continue building and maintaining trust with the Indigenous communities, leaders and organizations while expertly managing existing productive relationships and networks
Work effectively and successfully within multiple Indigenous protocols and policies, with an understanding of the challenges and problems that both Indigenous and northern communities
face
Qualifications
A minimum of 8 years relevant experience working with Indigenous and northern communities
Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Land Stewardship or equivalent is preferred but not required. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered
Requirements
Valid drivers licence
Occasional travel within Saskatchewan
Extended work hours while attending Indigenous events or political gatherings
he chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
